Alliance Francaise de Trivandrum is dedicating May as the Sustainability month, starting off with an exhibition on sustainable architecture: Architecture= Durable, from 21 May to 1 June.

This exhibition was created by the Pavillon de l’Arsenal, based on architectural projects realized in and around Paris. This exhibition is a discussion on how to promote an eco-friendly architecture adapting to the geographical context in which it is developed.

“The projects presented in this exposition exemplify the shared values of tomorrow’s sustainable urban community: transcending technical and doctrinaire discourse, these projects are above all architectural and urban.
Architecture = durable are structures for a sustainable society that finds the opportunity in architecture (far from any regressive extremism) to forge a new connection between projects and technology, and to discover new uses for the city of the future.” Jacques Ferrier( Architect, Engineer and exhibition curator).

In association with Thanal and Agasthya Parva Ayurveda, presentations and discussions on sustainable agriculture and waste management, will be organized on 25 May from 2.30pm to 5.30pm.

Sustainability can be understood as an ecosystem approach to agriculture.  At a time when waste management is an issue at the heart of people’s preoccupation, a solution is a matter of necessity. Sustainable agriculture and waste management have a symbiotic relation both complimenting the other in certain aspects, and this is a topic worth exploration.

Also on 25 May, as part of the event, there will be a presentation and sale of organic products.

Sustainability Month rounds off with a presentation on Architecture and its various aspects on 1 June from 2.30pm to 5.30pm, in association with  Indian Institute of Architects, Kerala chapter .The topics dealt are sustainability in architecture, sustainability in building materials and construction etc in relation to the context of Kerala. This is an attempt at exploring practices to integrate the essentials of sustainable, eco-friendly ideas in our building practices.
