Four artists from Pondichery, Ezhilarasan, Danasegar, Sridhar and Vengatesh, come together for SANGAMAM, a group show presented by la Gallery 360, from 7- 16 July , 2016 at Art Gallery, Alliance Française de Trivandrum.
Ezhilarasan, Danasegar, Sridhar and Vengatesh,four artists from Pondicherry, who studied together in Madras School of Art, have always kept in touch and exhibited together. They have inspired and encouraged each other. Three of them live in villages on the outskirts of Pondicherry yet they all paint in very contemporary styles. Their themes are rooted in their Tamil culture yet their colours palettes are drawn from the west. They often travel together around India and on their return, bring back their experiences to life on their canvases. They are always ready to explore and learn. Their canvas exude a mature imagery far ahead of their age and situation. It’s their unadulterated and sensitive eyes that bring forth these beautiful paintingsfull of colour and life. The SANGAMAM in this show is the coming together of the diverse stylistic methods that they use to tell their stories .From Figurative to Abstract, contemporary to folk, they move with ease. They bring together a joyful and colourful picture that is pleasing to the senses and teasing to the mind .
