The focus of the fourth edition is Women in Science and Technology, marking International Women’s Day.
The Café Scientifique is a discussion platform to bring common man nearer to science and scientific issues. The objective is to bring water related issues into focus. The presentations will be followed by Q and A, to help an open discussion on ‘water’ where concerns of common man can be raised.
The speakers are:
Dr. Resmi Lekshmi , Asst. Professor, Earth and Space Sciences, IIST, Trivandrum. She will give presentation on her area of specialization which is High energy astrophysics, Transient astronomy and Gamma Ray Burst physics.
Dr. Hema Somanathan, Asst. Professor, IISER, Trivandrum, will provide a glimpse into this fascinating world of insects which have the ability to learn and are plastic in their behaviours.
Ms. Dhanya.M.B, Scientist, ISRO, Part of scientific team for ISRO’s MARS mission. She will talk about Martian Exospheric Neutral Composition Analyser (MENCA), one of the five scientific instruments onboard Mars Orbiter Mission and expected science in context of Martian science.
The Café Scientifique is organized once every two months at Alliance Française de Trivandrum. Each session will discuss a new topic related to scientific questions affecting common man.
