In Paris, Julien Tavernier, a former paratrooper, accomplishes a perfect crime: he assassinates his boss with the help of the latter’s wife of which he is the lover. Wanting to erase a compromising clue he has forgotten at the scene of the crime, he finds himself stuck in the elevator that brings him back. His mistress and accomplice wait for him in vain at the cafe, then spend the night looking for his trace. In the meantime, a young delivery man stole Julien’s car to impress his girlfriend, a florist; in the trip, he makes with her, he panics and kills a couple of German tourists.
