Discover Ashtanga Yoga: an introductory workshop on ashtanga yoga. There are two sessions planned, one for adults and teenagers ( from 11 yrs) on 25 July.  The workshops are of one and a half hour duration (10- 11.30am) and will be conducted at Alliance Française de Trivandrum .

Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic style of yoga that traces its roots all the way to the source of yoga in Mysore, India. This ancient science of healing uses yoga postures, deep breathing and specific gazing points to leave you feeling more peaceful and your body more healthy and fit.

This workshop starts off with the basic elements of the traditional ashtanga yoga method and is suitable to all levels regardless of previous experience of yoga.

The workshop begins by learning the proper breathing technique, the Ujjayi breath, followed by the bandhas(the internal locks) and the drishti (the gazing points).

Applying these techniques to the practice we begin the yoga class with Sun Salutations to warm up the body, followed by a continuous flow of standing and seated postures and finally end the yoga session with the closing sequence.
