Thathwamasi : An exhibition of photographs by N P Jayan from 8- 16 January, 2015 at Art Gallery, Alliance Française de Trivandrum.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on 8 January, 4.30pm by Justice P. Sathasivam, Hon. Governor of Kerala @ Art gallery, Alliance Française de Trivandrum.
The exhibition showcases not only the beauty and peace of the Periyar Tiger Reserve and Sabarimala but also the damages caused by indiscriminate human intervention. The beauty of this cradle of nature is expertly captured in the photographs, while portraying the glaring contrasts of man- made ugliness.
N.P.Jayan, a photo journalist by profession, has been photographing this area over the past three years to cover the beauty as well as the destruction that is a side effect of pilgrim tourism. The collection of photographs, progressing from beauty to destruction, forces one to ponder over many environmental questions, particularly the issues faced by Western Ghats.
