7 April, 6.30pm

Vyloppilli Samskriti Bhavan

As a part of Francophonie Month, dedicated to celebrate the French language, Alliance Francaise de Trivandrum in association with the Embassy of France in India organizes a musico-pictoral concert byJacky and Anaka, 7 April at 6.30pm @ Vyloppilli Samskriti Bhavan.

Jacky Mouvillat, “Stick Chapman” musician performs with the delightful French singer Anaka, the Tabla Master, Manosh Bardhan and Matt Littlewood on saxophone soprano. The quartet graciously plays, combining the innovative talent of Jacky with the harmony of the Indian Tabla rhythms, along with Anaka’s charming voice, and Matt’s Saxophone, offers an elegant fusion-musical  moment. The occasion also offers a chance to discover the instrument -“Stick Chapman”.

Passionate by design and music, the French musician, Jacky Mouvillat , has chosen to dedicate his talent to an incredibly original American instrument named a “Stick Chapman”. With a similar design to a guitar neck, the Stick Chapman can range up to twelve strings and it uses the same techniques as for playing on a keyboard. There are less than 150 professional musicians playing the Stick Chapman in the world and each “stick” is an original creation.

Alongwith the music, there is a live performance on plexiglass by the special visual artist Anaka which includes the technique of  painting and writing mirror backwards on Plexiglas.
